Equipment Reviews By Tom Nguyen, Equipment Junkie Viva blade This is an offensive 7-ply wood blade, with Limba and Samba woods. Its relative stiffness makes it good for firm, crisp loops, and for hitting and blocking. For its fast speed, it has good control. I think this is due to the Samba layers, which give good touch for finesse shots. It comes in flared, anatomic, straight and penhold. Mambo GP This is a medium-firm sponge, slightly on the soft side. What's great about this sponge is the built-in glued effect. You never need to glue it! It comes in a tube container because of the built-in speed glue effect. This helps preserve it. This rubber is great for those who like to drive the ball more. It has a lower trajectory, and is good for hitting, blocking, and driving (not high-arcing) loops with great speed and spin. (The "GP" stands for "Generation Power.") It comes in 1.8mm, 2.0mm and Max. Have a question on equipment? Know of a JOOLA product you'd like reviewed?
