One of the most effective ways to picking the right equipment is knowing your style.  There are many styles out there, the folllwing is simply a snapshot of some of the different ways of playing.  Provided is also a simple guide to the "right" equipment for each of the styles.

1.)   Close to the table Looper -  this style applies to someone who stays closer to the table and have smaller strokes.  This type of player tends to take the ball right off the bounce in order to produce a quicker loop.

For the offensive attacker, the Rossi Force is a great blade.  This carbon blade is extremely fast yet well balanced with a large sweet spot, providing speed and optimal control.  The Rossi Force paired with a grippy Mambo H is the perfect combination.  The Mambo H is one of the best rubbers for looping as it has a slightly firm sponge with a high friction top sheet.

2.)   Mid-Distance Looper – this type of player tends to play 4-6 feet away from the table.  The loops may have more of a full swing as there is more time to generate the stroke.

The Carbon SWE was created by JOOLA technicians using Swedish technology.  It is a carbon blade that gives the perfect combination of speed, spin, and ball control.  The best rubbers to use with this blade is the Samba and Air.  The Samba is one of the most popular JOOLA rubbers.  It generates the perfect cork sound!  Along with the increased rubber longevity, it provides great spin and optimal feeling.  The Air rubber is the first rubber with ROSnet technology.  The ROSnet technology makes the ball bury itself in the rubber and then catapult it out with dynamic force.  The rubber is 10% lighter than all others.  It is known for its soft sponge while maintaining its speed!

3.)   All Around Player – this style applies to someone who is able to do everything pretty equally.  They have the ability to attack powerfully as well as play a more passive game when necessary.

A great blade for the all around player is the K 5.  The K 5 is an offensive blade that comes with a honeycomb handle that helps absorb about 20% of the vibrations.  This helps the player stay steady and maintain their speed and control.  Paired with JOOLA’s classic Mambo and the new built in glue effect, Energy - this combination gives the all around player the perfect balance of control and offensiveness.

4.)   Close to the table Hitter/Attacker Pips Out – this is a player known for their speed and quickness.  They take everything off the bounce.  Shots tend to be more dead and flat, instead of the topspins generated by a looper.  On the backhand side, the player will play with short pimpled pips instead of the inverted smooth.

The Guo 3 C blade was created with the collaboration of Chinese World Champion, Guo Yue.  It is a fast carbon blade that enables a fast acceleration at the contact of the ball – the perfect blade for hitters who play quick and off the bounce shots.  The pairing of the Guo 3 C with the Mambo C, a sticky top sheet with a harder sponge, will not disappoint you in producing a fast forehand!  For pips-out players, the important aspects to consider are spin, speed and control.  Following the same TENSOR technology, the Tango Ultra has been created providing all of these attributes!  This short pimpled rubber is able to absorb the energy during passive blocking as well as have the explosiveness needed when attacking.

5.)   Chopper – this style used to be considered purely defensive.  Players tend to play far from the table and use backspin to chop their opponents down.  In the modern game now, choppers will attack more.  They tend to utilize the opportunities created by their chops to open and attack.

Working with one of the world’s best defensive players, Chen Weixing, the Chen Weixing blade is born!  It is a blade developed for the modern defensive player.  This means that it is fast enough for the chopper to attack as well as have the control to chop.  Using this blade with the very sticky rubber, Drum, it is both a fast and spinny combination.  With JOOLA being a very popular brand in China, the idea is to produce a “Made in China” rubber.  The result is a very grippy, hard and extremely fast rubber.  The Razor is a long pips that has a new fabric structure of the rubber that ensures the longevity of the pimple as well as providing good control.  While you have full control, the rubber  still is able to produce quite a bit of “disturbing effect” against your opponents.
