Having a Short Game! PDF Print E-mail

Too often players tend to overlook their short game.  We all tend to enjoy counter hitting, loop loop, or any type of power against power shots.  This makes us forget the reality of a real match.  Let's face the truth, many of us would love to have that 2800 level counter looping game.  However during a match, the reality is playing loop loop or power shots is not usually how the game pans out.  One's game depends mostly on the "little things," such as push, drop, flip, service return, etc.   In my opinion, this makes up a big part of your game.  It is very important to dedicate some time and focus on practicing these things.  Without these skills of keeping the ball consistently on the table, we would not have a chance to advance to the rallies of countering.
