Hello all,

John Leach here again. I am just finishing up the USATT warm-up camp in Seattle as preparation for the U.S. Open, and thought I would give a quick update. It’s been a pretty great camp so far; most of the U.S. Junior and Cadet Team members made it up here, and they’ve been an enjoyable lot to be with.
As I’ve mentioned previously, the last couple months have been pretty calm. I’ve been travelling less and focusing more on physical training than I had been before. Colorado isn’t the most desirable altitude to play Table Tennis at, but it’s great for running and other outdoor activities. Of course, I am still training regularly with my coaches, Zhen Shi Li & Zhang Li, playing with other CO players such as Richard McAfee, and (as always) I have been playing a lot in my garage.
I think the camp has been an adequate form of preparation for the Open, but I guess it’s probably a little early to know for sure. There have been two sessions a day, running at around 2 hours of table-time apiece.   Tomorrow the Juniors will fly out to Vegas and afterwards we will head out to another training camp at Texas Wesleyan University in Dallas; so I will be sure to keep you posted on how that turns out. As it stands I am packing to fly out tomorrow morning, and am having trouble fitting all of my clothes back into the bag they just came out of a few days ago.  I should probably get on top of that. Good luck to all you headed to the Open, and good luck adjusting to the altitude in time for your first matches.
