JOOLA Drum

Drum is a typical Chinese style inverted rubber with a very stick topsheet. This makes it great for spinny serves, and for looping if you rely on the topsheet to spin the ball. It has a very firm sponge, which makes it great for hitting and blocking.

One of the first things table tennis players are taught is how to put spin on their serve.  So it comes as quite a surprise to many to find that most top players often serve with no-spin. What is the purpose of this?

Tournament matches often begin oddly, especially in early rounds.  Initial points can be ragged and unpredictable, sometimes offering easy chances for winners that competitors fail to cash in due to nervousness.  A need for your opponent to adjust to your serves or style can also yield some weak returns.  Such opportunities can arise even against very strong opponents.
