ASV Grünwettersbach and Post SV Mühlhausen make history at 2017 North American Teams
The fans of table tennis in the United States were treated to an amazing match today. The 1st International Pro Bundesliga Match in the USA was held at the Gaylord National Harbor Resort in National Harbor, Maryland outside of Washington DC in conjunction with the 20th Annual JOOLA North American Teams Championships. ASV Grünwettersbach defeated Post SV Mülhausen, 3-1 in a spectacular showcase of professional table tennis. ASV Grünwettersbach improves their season standing to 3-5 while Post SV Mühlhausen holds a 3rd place position in the league with a 5-3 record.
In the first match, Masataka Morizono defeated Daniel Habesohn in a close 5 gamer giving Grunwettersbach the opening point. In the second match, Ovidiu Ionescu convincingly defeated Ricardo Walther 3-1, tying up the score at 1-1 for Mühlhausen. After a fun half time show, the matches continue with Sam Walker quickly giving Grünwettersbach the 2-1 lead by defeating Lubomir Jancarik. In the 4th match, Daniel Habesohn and Ricardo Walther were both looking for redemption as both lost their earlier matches. In the end, Ricardo gives Grünwettersbach the win in a 3-1 victory.
Coach Rade Markovic stated, “This match was unbelievably important for us to remain competitive this season. After a few close loses, we needed this win to improve the morale of our team. We are glad to be victorious today.” In the first ever Bundesliga match held outside of Germany, the match attracted nearly 750 spectators. Fans of both Grünwettersbach and Mulhausen traveled with the teams and helped created an exciting atmosphere in the arena.
