My table tennis career has been long - 13 years in the European and World Championships, Olympic Qualification with the Serbian National Team, and twice Serbian National Singles Champion. Even after retiring from professional table tennis, I still play for fun in the 2nd German Federal League (and my balance isn't too bad).
It has always been important for me to play with the best equipment. In terms of rubbers, this has not been a problem, but finding the perfect blade, which is the "soul" of the racket in my opinion, has been difficult at times. For this reason, I have been working in the department for design and development at JOOLA since 2004. During this time, I have personally tested more than 3,000 blades. It is a very long process, from the first idea to the start of production, but my experience and contacts with top players around the world has been instrumental in helping me design an ideal product.
As a result, JOOLA is the ideal equipment partner for players throughout the world, especially when it comes to blades. Our product lines offers hard, fast, carbon blades, innovative technologies, blade series like the Flame and Wing series, classic all around, defensive, or junior blades. There is always a suitable JOOLA blade for any individual playing style.
Currently, I am very happy with our product range, but rest assured we are always working on new products!
Division Manager Product Development
More than 50 years ago, in the ski workshop of the company Jooss in Landau, the first table top was painted with green blackboard varnish and the local carpenter delivered matching legs for it. No one knew where this humble beginning would lead!
In 1961, as a very young employee, along with the company founder, Karl Frey, we took the tables in an estate car to the German Team Championships in Neuwied and set them up for play. It was here that the JOOLA brand was born. Back then, the tables were still manufactured by hand and the very precision and quality that we used then is what we strive to maintain today. It is not easy to produce a playing surface that meets the highest standards, but JOOLA has the extensive experience and expertise that have helped the brand earn its world-wide reputation in table production.
Most notably, the automated coating equipment used on JOOLA table tops is unique to our brand only. It was designed by one of the leading machinery manufacturers and is constantly updated to meet the most modern demands of quality. As a result, top players throughout the world are all familiar with the "legendary" playing features of JOOLA tables.
We feel a strong obligation to maintain such high standards – This, of course, has been the focus, of both myself and my employees, over our many successful years.
In the 1970s, JOOLA introduced its first specialty high-end rubbers. JOOLA Turbo and JOOLA Stratos were rubber sheets of superior quality and in the following decades, JOOLA developed rubbers that many players used to win medals in the World Championships, European Championships, and Olympic Games.
At JOOLA, my responsibility for rubber development is not only for elite players, but especially for the needs of clubs, recreational athletes, and youth classes. These players need rubbers that both suit their individual playing style and allow them to enjoy our beloved sport. As a result, a good price-performance ratio is of the utmost importance, in addition to durability and consistency.
JOOLA rubber development involves testing by players from all levels. With Jörg Rosskopf, Germany's "Mr. Table Tennis," I have a partner, who as a former world class player and now as a successful national team coach, contributes up-to-date expertise from the highest level. Moreover, material specialists like Chen Weixing and Amelie Solja, not only actively participate in the testing of equipment, but are also very much involved in the development and fine tuning of our new products.
The result? Top quality and popular rubbers for every type of player out there.
It is a long process of development, but as Vice President of the Hessian Table Tennis Association and Sports Manager of my home club, Seligenstadt (currently in the 2nd Federal League), I have many opportunities to interact with players, coaches, and officials at all levels of our sport - This naturally assists me gauging the requirements of table tennis enthusiasts for the future.
