In the 1970s, JOOLA introduced its first specialty high-end rubbers. JOOLA Turbo and JOOLA Stratos were rubber sheets of superior quality and in the following decades, JOOLA developed rubbers that many players used to win medals in the World Championships, European Championships, and Olympic Games.
At JOOLA, my responsibility for rubber development is not only for elite players, but especially for the needs of clubs, recreational athletes, and youth classes. These players need rubbers that both suit their individual playing style and allow them to enjoy our beloved sport. As a result, a good price-performance ratio is of the utmost importance, in addition to durability and consistency.
JOOLA rubber development involves testing by players from all levels. With Jörg Rosskopf, Germany's "Mr. Table Tennis," I have a partner, who as a former world class player and now as a successful national team coach, contributes up-to-date expertise from the highest level. Moreover, material specialists like Chen Weixing and Amelie Solja, not only actively participate in the testing of equipment, but are also very much involved in the development and fine tuning of our new products.
The result? Top quality and popular rubbers for every type of player out there.
It is a long process of development, but as Vice President of the Hessian Table Tennis Association and Sports Manager of my home club, Seligenstadt (currently in the 2nd Federal League), I have many opportunities to interact with players, coaches, and officials at all levels of our sport - This naturally assists me gauging the requirements of table tennis enthusiasts for the future.
