More than 50 years ago, in the ski workshop of the company Jooss in Landau, the first table top was painted with green blackboard varnish and the local carpenter delivered matching legs for it. No one knew where this humble beginning would lead!

In 1961, as a very young employee, along with the company founder, Karl Frey, we took the tables in an estate car to the German Team Championships in Neuwied and set them up for play. It was here that the JOOLA brand was born. Back then, the tables were still manufactured by hand and the very precision and quality that we used then is what we strive to maintain today. It is not easy to produce a playing surface that meets the highest standards, but JOOLA has the extensive experience and expertise that have helped the brand earn its world-wide reputation in table production.

Most notably, the automated coating equipment used on JOOLA table tops is unique to our brand only. It was designed by one of the leading machinery manufacturers and is constantly updated to meet the most modern demands of quality. As a result, top players throughout the world are all familiar with the "legendary" playing features of JOOLA tables.

We feel a strong obligation to maintain such high standards – This, of course, has been the focus, of both myself and my employees, over our many successful years.
